Hello friends,
This post is part 2 of my thoughts for solo-trip and going to provide some advice for your future trip. If you have not read part 1, please go to this link to read Part 1 .
Before going for any trip, we do plan our schedule such as how many days we'd like to stay in particular places and what to do, what to eat, etc., This is a planning stage of the trip. After planning and booking our air tickets, and hotels, suddenly date reaches a week before boarding!
And some people really get excited about their trip, some wonder what to prepare, just questioning many things and posting a lot (like a lot and too basic) of questions on social media and prepare in a very short time. Sometimes it really fits and sometimes does not. That's why the memories they get really differ.
However, today I want to share what kind of things you really should prepare before going to the airport. And those suggestions or advice are really based on my experiences, so please do not really rely on only my thoughts. I want to give you insights and you are the one who decides.
I am assuming this advice would reach for solo travelers who go for local trips or abroad trips. Therefore I am not giving advice on how to find cheap air tickets or hotel bookings. Advice that I am going to give is right before you're going to another country, so please expect more like physical preparation part.
Alright, here are the tips!
1. Please check your passport expiry date.
Like I am saying seriously, some people just have a lot of confidence and really does not check it perfectly. Also, check your passport validity such as pages are torn or got wet. (any issue may stop you to enter the destination country)
2. Please check the travel destination country requires visa or not
Again we have confidence, or country relationship and just assume trip targeted country does not require a visa. Or just hear from friends about the visa and book tickets. Later cry at the airport because not allowing you to board! (This really happened to me, so please do not laugh, better check government website :P)
3. Keep your luggage/suitcase light as possible
If the trip is shorter, hey! you do not need to carry all your fancy dresses and high heels. Just keep comfortable and good looking few stuffs are great because the entire trip you need to carry your all not wearing dresses and jeans.
4. Only put a high priority make up items in your suitcase
Again, you do not need to put all your gorgeous makeup stuff. Some important suncream, BB cream, foundation, and eyeliner maybe!
5. Plan ahead "Things to do" and "Things to eat" list
If you already have a list for things you want to try, you are really saving a lot of time. You can just search and go according to your list.
Normally I do write down on paper or note that all the things I wanna do with timeline. Then I follow with that timeline (date), do the most wanted things. (It really saves time hence you are not worrying what to see today and other)
6. Install some important mobile applications
Before installing the app, you better check the trip targeted country uses which particular app for calling taxi, shopping, traveling etc.
Widely used apps you should download are: Offline map, Taxi booking apps (Uber, Grab, Ola, Yandex.Taxi, JapanTaxi etc)
Language app: some Translating app, Google Translate :P
If you are traveling to China, you better install mobile VPN applications too!
7. Prepare payment cards
Most of the countries now accept card reading, so instead of preparing or converting cash,it's better to keep your money in cards.
8. Rough budget range or limit
Since we are on trip, surely we will spend money on many things. It will be great if you have some rough budget range such as for gifts I won't exceed some amount, maybe 50$ etc. Later when you return home, still some balance in your card, isn't that nice?. (mentally we feel good if there is some money left in our card, right?)
9.Charge all your electrical devices before the flight
Including your camera, power bank, tab and smartphone. And make sure you did not forget to pack chargers as well. Just in case, please search what is power plug for trip targeted country.
10. Have first aid in your luggage/suitcase
Last but not least, it is super important that you should carry some first aid stuff in your suitcase. Including some headache, sore throat medicine, painkillers and band-aids too!
Yes, that's it from my side and never forget to enjoy it! Since it is your well-planned trip, so you deserve to relax and have amazing time during your trip.
Also, it is always welcome you to share your experiences in comment below. I am very happy to hear from you guys!
